People are well aware of the detrimental effects that processed and fast food have on our overall health. Even though, everyone still continues to eat it on a regular basis.
Everything is OK if consumed in moderation but due to the fast lifestyle we rely on fast food too much which is high in sodium, hidden sugars, sodium and fat and is the leading cause of obesity, high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes.
Grant Imahara, the Mythbuster, recently visited the McDonalds fry factory in order to see how exactly those delicious French fries are made. He was able to reverse engineer the process and discover that the McDonalds French fries contain as much as 15 harmful ingredients.
These ingredients have been linked to some serious health problems, such as: brain damage, autoimmune disorders and more.
Here’s a list of the health hazardous ingredients in the McDonald’s French fries:
Sodium acid pyrophosphate
Natural beef flavor
Hydrogenated soybean oil
The 3 worst and the most dangerous ingredients found in this list are: TBHQ, dimethylpolysiloxane and hydrogenated soybean oil.
Dimethylpolysilioxane is a compound used in hair conditioners, silly putty and aquarium tank sealants, which contains formaldehyde, a toxic compound associated with allergies, brain damage, autoimmune diseases and even cancer.
Hydrogenated soybean oil contains unhealthy trans fats which are linked to numerous serious diseases. According to two studies, about 100 000 deaths in America can be prevented annually by replacing the unhealthy trans fats with the healthier non hydrogenated monosaturated or polyunsaturated oils.
Finally, TBHQ, or tertiary butylhydroquionone, is a dangerous substance often added to food in order to prevent it from going bad. TBHQ is also used in perfumes and bio diesel.
