Stroke is medical issue that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. Statistically, it is number 5 cause of death in the world.
Stroke occurs when the blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by some clot or bursts (or ruptures). Once this happens, the part of the brain doesn’t get the necessary blood (and oxygen) it needs, so the brain cells die.
There are two major types of stroke: ischemic and hemorrhagic. The ischemic strokes occur often and are caused by a narrowing or blocking of arteries to the brain, and the result is severely reduced blood flow. The hemorrhagic strokes are less common and are caused by bleeding in the brain.
The brain is particularly complex organ that controls various body functions. At the moment when stroke occurs, the blood flow actually can’t reach the region that controls a particular body function.
It’s good to know the signs.
