These two women, named Jenniger Cramblet and Amanda Zinkon, after living together for awhile, decided that they wanted a new member in their family and the way to do it is by going to a sperm bank and have in vitro fertilization. The bank they choose was in Ohio, USA. Because Amanda has blue eyes and blonde hair, they wanted to find a donor with the same specifics.
After they made the choice and picked the donor number 380, Jennifer underwent in vitro fertilization by a doctor using the sample of the sperm bank. They were so eager to see the new family member and this was a dream coming true for both of them. After 9 months, Jennifer gave birth to a wonderful baby, except, the baby had black skin and the couple despite the happiness, were shocked!
As an explanation of how did this happened the sperm bank said they made a mistake while writing down the number of the donor, and instead of 380 they read the number 330. Jennifer is now suing the sperm bank because of negligence and fraud. The trial should be finished later this year.
Jenifer’s family was disappointed, especially because they live in a place where there are no mixed races. Although they are very much conservative, they accepted the new family member and Amanda and Jennifer are still trying to make be the best parents they can. They drive miles to a hair salon specialized in cutting African-American hair and seek consultation from social workers and sociologists. The couple is truly making every effort imaginable to raise their daughter to be a compassionate human being who is accepting of people from all walks of life.
