Dye Your Hair Naturally: These Recipes Will Make Your Hair Perfect

Many studies have shown that over 65% of women around the world dye the hair, and they usually use over-the-counter dyes on a regular basis.

But you should know that these products are full with numerous chemicals, and there are more than 5,000 distinct chemicals contained in the hair dyes, as it is stated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

So, due to this there can be developed numerous health problems when we are frequently in contact with these chemicals. Luckily there are numerous natural effective alternatives that you can use to dye your hair without exposing yourself to these dangerous chemicals:

1. Walnut Shells

You can use walnut shells for dark brown color. First crush the shells, and then put them to boil for 30 minutes and then let them cool down. You can also find walnut powder for this purpose.

Strain the walnuts and rub them on the hair. Leave it to act for about sixty minutes and then wash your hair with some warm water.

In order to achieve more intense color, you can heat the juice from the walnuts one more time, and then leave it to boil until it gets to ¼ of the original amount. After that leave it to cool down, strain one more time and apply it on your hair.

2. Lemon Juice

You can also use lemon juice for highlighting. Just apply some lemon juice on the hair and then comb it. Let it stay for several hours. If you want even lighter nuances, you can mix the lemon juice with chamomile, or dry it in the sun. Perform this treatment a few times to get the wanted results.

3. Herbs

Different herbs can give you different colors such as these:

a) Red

If you want to get red color you can use hibiscus, rosehips, marigold and calendula. For deeper color you need t use more herbs. The preparation is just to boil the herbs for thirty minutes in some water. After they are cooled down, strain them and apply them on the skin. It is recommended to dry the hair on the sun.

b) Brunette/Dark

For brunette/dark hair color you can use sage, nettle and rosemary. Just put the herbs in some water and let them boil for half an hour and after the mixture has cooled, strain it and apply on the hair. Let it act for sixty minutes and wash your hair.

c) Blonde

In order to get blonde hair color, you can use sunflower petals, calendula, chamomile, marigold and saffron. For your grays you can put Rhubarb root. For darker colors use black tea, and for the lighter ones put catnip. Boil the mixture for thirty minutes, strain it and let it cool down and apply it on your hair.

4. Coffee

Coffee is the perfect natural alternative to dye your hair in darker colors and to achieve a chocolate nuance. Just make some organic and strong coffee, and let it cool. Then make a mixture with 2 cups of leave and 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds in all-natural conditioner.

Then pour the mixture on your hair and let it act for sixty minutes.

After that use apple cider vinegar, to rinse the hair. Another treatment is to put coffee after you have shampooed your hair, let it stay for about twenty minutes and then use apple cider vinegar to wash it, and you will get long-lasting effects. When finished, wash the hair with some warm water.

5. Tea

Tea is not as strong as coffee is, so it is best to use with natural hair color. It is great to use rooibos for redheads, chamomile for blondes and black tea in order to darken gray hairs.

Just take 2 cups of water and put 3-5 teabags of tea. Leave it to cool and put it on your hair. If you are having problems with gray hair, just add some dried or fresh sage in order to open the follicles of the hair.

Let it act for about sixty minutes and then wash with some warm water. You can also leave the tea to act overnight.

6. Beet and Carrot Juice

You can combine beet and carrot juice together or you can use them separately. The can make red tints to the color. If you want more red color, put more beet juice, and if you want more reddish-orange color, put more carrot.

Put one cup of the mixture on your hair, spread it all over and then cover your hair and let it to act for sixty minutes. After that, wash the hair with some warm water and use apple cider vinegar.

7. Henna

Henna plant leaves have a coloring pigment and henna powder is produced from them. It is very efficient. If it is not mixed with anything else, it gives red-orange color on your hair.
You can also add some chamomile tea, for better effects. Also for better release of color, you can put a tablespoon of vinegar.

Apply the henna on your hair and com it. Then cover the hair with a plastic wrap and let it act for several hours. Then wash your hair with warm water.
